NURSERY HISTORY
circa 1935
PROUD OF OUR "ROOTS"

Turnbull Nursery Garden Center has been a part of the Western New York growing industry since the late 1800's. A family owned and operated business, Turnbull Nursery is now run by the third and fourth generation Turnbull (with the fifth generation already taking a great interest!)

Primarily a wholesale grower of small fruits (grape, raspberry, currant, etc..), flowering shrubs and vines, we established a retail Garden Center in 1991. Since our opening day we have been ever expanding, whether it be our selection, our buildings or our grounds. When we first started, our garden center was selling under 50 varieties of plants and now we are well over 500 varieties. Our bareroot barn has grown from selling 10 varieties out of a 16'x20' building to our new climate controlled 60'x100' Bare Root Barn with over 150 varieties.

We have vastly expanded our container area also. No longer do you have to dredge through the uneven, muddy ground to buy your plants. In 2001, we doubled the size of our container yard as well as blacktopped it and our parking lot. Now customers can easily navigate through our aisles with our handy wagons, picking out their selections.

Our plant selection has also vastly grown since our opening day. We only carry hardy varieties that can withstand a "Buffalo winter." If we can not produce it, we only buy in material from other northern nurseries within our climate zone.

We accept Visa, Mastercard and Discover credit cards, as well as cash and personal checks (with ID). We also work with our customer's schedules. We can hold purchased plants until you are ready to plant. This way, your plants are being well watered and you do not have to worry about taking care of them before they are planted. We will do everything we can to help with your landscaping experience!

RELAX, ENJOY AND BE INSPIRED BY TURNBULL GARDENS

Turnbull Gardens was created in 2002 to showcase the plant material that we sell. We wanted to have a place where our customers could sit, relax, and absorb the landscape around them in hopes of inspiring their own landscape design.

See some of our stunning bloomers. See how colorful leaves can enhance the landscape. See how to use plants to attract wildlife. See how you can make your world a little greener with our excellent evergreens. And check out our popular perennials.

All the plants within our gardens can be purchased at our Garden Center, whether it be in bareroot, container or balled. As with all our material, it is northern grown. If not directly from our own fields, from other northern nurseries which have seen a "Buffalo winter".

Please stop in and enjoy our gardens. In the spring, free coffee and homemade cookies will be served on the weekends.
